Townsend Wins State Title

Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol’s Savanna Townsend won gold Friday night at the WIAA Division 2 Girls Swimming and Diving State Meet, which was held at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison.  Townsend finished first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.74.  It is the second individual state title for Townsend as she won the 100 yard freestyle in 2010.  Townsend also finished second in the 100 yard butterfly Friday night (57.04).  As a team, Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol finsihed ninth at the Division 2 State Meet.

200 yard freestyle relay team – 4th (1:39.65)
200 yard medley relay team – 7th (1:51.95)
Arica Smith – 8th in the 50 yard freestyle (24.88)
Arica Smith – 8th in the 100 yard freestyle (54.25)
Morgan Buckham – 15th in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:10.76)
Chloe Peterson – 16th in the 100 yard butterfly (1:03.40)
