Townsend And Schmelzer Officially Sign

Two Sturgeon Bay athletes officially signed their National Letter of Intent Wednesday.  Swimmer Savanna Townsend will compete next fall at Division 1 Iowa State.  This season, Townsend claimed the WIAA Division 2 state championship in the 50 yard freestyle for a second time (her third individual state title) and she finished second in the 100 yard butterfly.  Townsend said that Wednesday’s signing was the result of many hours of hard work…

The other Sturgeon Bay athlete to sign her National Letter of Intent was basketball player Linnea Schmelzer.  She signed with Division 2 Truman State, located in Kirksville, Missouri.  Truman State began recruiting Schmelzer after seeing her play with the Green Bay Legends (an AAU team) this summer.
