Sister Bay, West Jacksonport and Washington Island all scored a dozen or more runs in week five of the Door County League while Egg Harbor doubled up Institute Friday night. Here are the details:
On AM 910 WDOR and wdor.com, Sister Bay won at Maplewood, 18-0. Sister Bay pounded out 24 hits in the win. Bubba Laughlin had five hits while Sam Forkert added four and Tom Sawyer and Stuart Larsen each had three. Tucker Emerson homered. Sam Forkert went the first six innings for the win as he and Chase Lindem allowed three hits in the shutout. Nick Brauer took the loss for Maplewood.
West Jacksonport beat Kolberg, 14-0. Riley Cordier threw the first no-hitter in the DCL since May of 2016. Woody Schartner homered for West Jacksonport. Schartner and Sawyer Johnson had three hits including two doubles. Ernie Erickson took the loss.
Washington Island beat Baileys Harbor, 16-8. Tied at eight in the sixth, Washington Island scored three times and then added five in the eighth. Ben Geiger homered in the win. He, Caleb Cornell, Matt Foss and Alex and Ben Johnson all had two hits. Mitch Schreiber picked up the win in relief. Daniel Case hit a home run for Baileys Harbor. Case, Lucky Stephenson and Brett Kinnard all had two hits. Stephenson took the loss.
Friday night, Egg Harbor beat Institute, 6-3. Egg Harbor scored twice in the seventh to snap a 3-3 tie. Casey Giesseman, Corey Fuller and Nick Kita all had two hits. Kita picked up the win while Riley Spetz pitched the final three innings for the save. Josh Paul and Matt Petersilka each had a pair of hits for Institute. Kyle Volkman took the loss.
