Sunday In The Door County League

Egg Harbor stretched its lead in the Door County League to two games as they beat West Jacksonport, 13-0.  Egg Harbor (7-1) has now won seven straight.  The Indians were led by Matt Ash who had four hits and drove in five runs.  Tom Schmitt added three hits including a solo homer.  Riley Spetz (7-0) pitched the first eight innings for the win.  West Jacksonport (3-5) had only three hits on the afternoon, with Mike Larsen collecting his first ever in Door County League play.  Woody Schartner (2-4) took the loss.

Washington Island slipped by Maplewood, 7-6.  A sac fly by Craig Gunnlaugsson in the bottom of the ninth plated the winning run for Washington Island (5-3).  The Islanders rallied from a 4-0 deficit.  Troy Jorgenson (3-1) went the distance for the win.  He had two hits to lead Washington Island.  Adam Schubert homered twice and John Price and Mickey Le had two hits to lead Maplewood (2-6).  Mark Villers (0-2) took the loss in relief of Kyle Ploor.

Kolberg handed Sister Bay their third straight loss as the Braves won, 10-8.  Kolberg (5-3) sent twelve to the plate in the bottom of the second, scoring eight times to take the lead for good.  Jesse Miller hit a three-run homer and Chris Wery had two hits and drove in two to lead the Braves.  Jeff Sperber (2-0) pitched the first seven for the win and Bob Tenor finished the game for the save.  Justin Hartel and Al Higginbotham both had two hits to lead Sister Bay (5-3).  Hartel hit a two-run homer in the loss, which went to Andy Woerfel (1-2).
