Washington Island doubled up Baileys Harbor Sunday, 4-2. The Islanders (6-5) scored three times in the first and then added an insurance run in the top of the sixth. Troy Jorgenson had two hits, including a three-run homer. Jorgenson knocked in four runs while Caleb Cornell added two hits and scored twice. Mark Woerfel (1-1) pitched the first seven innings for the win with Jorgenson working the final two for his third save. Nick Kita and Pete Berns each had two hits for Baileys Harbor (4-7). Brett Anschutz (4-4) took the loss with eight strike outs.
Kolberg scored 14 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as they beat West Jacksonport, 23-4. Derek Raye went 5-for-6 to lead Kolberg (7-4). Jesse Miller had four hits, including a grand slam, and Bob Tenor hit a three-run homer. Travis Leroy and Chris Wery each added three hits. Jeff Sperber (4-0) picked up the win for the Braves. Steve Jilot and Alec Schartner each had a pair of hits for West Jacksonport (4-7). Woody Schartner (3-5) took the loss.
Sister Bay beat Maplewood, 9-3. Sister Bay (8-3) scored five times in the bottom of the fourth to snap a 3-3 tie. Tom Sawyer and Adam Biwer both had two hits in the win. Biwer and Justin Hartel both homered. Hartel (3-0) went the distance for the win. Maplewood (2-9) was led by Travis Price’s two hits and John Price hit a two-run homer. Kyle Ploor (2-4) took the loss.
