Sturgeon Bay Wins Regional

 

The Sturgeon Bay Legion baseball team won the “AA” Regional with a 5-3 win over Pulaski on Sunday in Luxemburg.  Mitchel Neubauer went the first 4 and a third innings with David Van Dreese getting the win in relief.  The Bays took the lead for good in the top of the 5th inning on an RBI ground out by Riley Cordier and made it 4-2 on an RBI single from Van Dreese.  Neubauer added an RBI double in the 6th inning.  Riley Schartner had 2 hits for the Bays and Lucas Stephenson hit a solo home run.  Sturgeon Bay advances to State for the first time since 2004.  The Bays (13-11) first game at the “AA” State tournament in Onalaska will be on Friday at 2:30 against Menomonie (6-11).

Sturgeon Bay beat Kewaunee  County 8-7 in 9 innings on Friday night and beat Pulaski 3-2 on Saturday.  After losing to Sturgeon Bay, Kewaunee County beat Oconto Falls 3-0 and lost to Pulaski 7-5.
