Sturgeon Bay beat Luxemburg-Casco in non-conference baseball Friday at Memorial Field, 8-5. The Clippers scored a run in the third to snap a 2-2 tie. Sturgeon Bay added a run in the fifth and then erupted for four more in the sixth to take an 8-3 lead. Luxemburg-Casco would score a run on Kyle Routhieaux’s homer to lead off the seventh and then would load the bases with one out in the inning. Jared Van Bramer came on in relief and recorded an out on a sacrifice fly and a strike out to end the game. Van Bramer picked up the save and Brandon Krause allowed three runs over the first five innings for the win. Van Bramer, Krause and Jeffrey Alberts pitched out of trouble throughout the game, stranding ten runners.
The Clippers scored their eight runs on ten hits. Ryan Jackson, Jeffrey Alberts, Augie Taylor and Tanner DeGrave all had two hits. Taylor doubled and drove in two runs and Austin Lardinois had a three-run double in Sturgeon Bay’s four run sixth. Jake Thyes had two of Luxemburg-Casco’s five hits. Thyes doubled and Kyle Routhieaux homered.
