The Sturgeon Bay 14 year old Babe Ruth All-Star team finished in third place at the State Tournament at Mount Simon Park in Eau Claire.
Sturgeon Bay beat Middleton 6-5 on Tuesday afternoon. Cooper Nellis picked up the win in relief and scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th on a base hit by Trevor Hawkey. Michael Larsen had 2 hits in the game for Sturgeon Bay.
Janesville eliminated Sturgeon Bay 10-0 Tuesday Night. Janesville scored 7 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take control of the game.
After losing their first game of the tournament on Saturday, Sturgeon Bay picked up wins over Marinette, Northwoods, BayPort and Middleton to finished in third place in the 14 team tournament. Janesville will play Eau Claire on Wednesday for the State Championship.
