Southern Door Softball Opens With Road Win

The Southern Door softball team opened their 2015 season with a win over the defending champion in the Packerland Conference as the Eagles won at Oconto Thursday, 9-7.  Tied at two after the opening inning, Southern Door would score twice in the second, once in the third and two more times in the fifth to build a 7-2 lead.  Oconto would make it close with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth, but the Eagles would hang on for the win.  Winning pitcher Hanna Mallien went all seven.  Kelsey Pavlik and Sam Renard both had two hits as Southern Door collected seven on the day.  The Eagles (1-0 / 1-0) took advantage of four Oconto errors and four walks.  Kelly Stewart tripled and doubled for the Blue Devils (0-1 / 0-2).
