Sophia Pollman of the Door County YMCA Strivers Gymnastic Team returned home from the YMCA Gymnastics National Championships in Milwaukee with a gold medal. Pollman competes in the X-cel bronze level and captured the title scoring a 9.35 on the vault. Level 3 gymnast Alexa Nelson placed 5th on floor. Xcel Silver Kayla Counard placed 7th on the bars and Ellie Helm who is also a Xcel Silver placed 8th on vault. Level 3 gymnast Reetika Jandu placed 9th on bars. Teams representing 105 YMCA’s from 19 different states were at the 2012 YMCA National Championships in Milwaukee. The 2013 event will be in Savannah, Georgia.
