New London beat Luxemburg-Casco 6-2 in a WIAA Division 2 Sectional Final at Shawano on Thursday. Shelby Sommer pitched a five-hitter and finished with three RBI’s to lead the Bulldogs past the Spartans. Sommer lined a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first inning but L-C answered as Taylor Cravillion launched a 2-run blast to deep left centerfield in the top of the 2nd inning. But single runs in the second and third innings for New London had them ahead 4-2 and they added two more in the 5th to pull away. Madyson Thayse had 2 hits to lead L-C and Sara Simonar struck out 11 for the game. New London scored all 6 runs with 2 out and will make their third straight state appearance. The Bulldogs will play La Crosse Logan in the Division 2 semi-finals next Thursday in Madison.
