Sister Bay earned a one run win over West Jacksonport to remain unbeaten in the Door County League. Washington Island kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a victory at Institute. Kolberg and Egg Harbor moved into a three-way tie for second with wins over Maplewood and Baileys Harbor. Here are the details:
Sister Bay beat West Jacksonport, 4-3. Sister Bay never trailed as they scored once in the third and added three more runs in the fourth inning. Ryan Demmin was relieved after eight innings, but he came back in after Will Henricksen failed to record an out in the ninth. Demmin (12-0) picked up the win. Demmin and Dusty Johnson each had two hits and Stuart Larsen drove in three runs. Griffin Cole had two hits for West Jacksonport. Cody Leist (0-1) went the first four and took the loss.
Washington Island beat Institute, 7-6. The Islanders turned a double play with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to end the game. Washington Island scored four runs in the second and then added three more in the sixth. Matt Foss (4-4) went the first six and picked up the win. Troy Jorgenson had two hits for the Islanders. Matt Petersilka collected three hits for Institute. Losing pitcher Kyle Volkman (4-8) pitched the first seven innings.
Egg Harbor beat Baileys Harbor, 8-2. Egg Harbor scored three runs in the fifth to snap a 2-2 tie. Riley Spetz had three hits and scored four runs. Corey Fuller and Nick Kita added two hits with Kita driving in five runs. Dave Jilot (5-3) pitched the first five inning for the win. Carson Jacques (0-1) took the loss in relief.
Kolberg beat Maplewood, 5-2. David Van Dreese had three hits and Jesse Miller, Jeff Sperber, Riley Cordier and Trevor Hawkey all added two as Kolberg pounded out 14 hits. Cordier (3-3) went the first seven for the win. Kordell Draves homered in the ninth for his first DCL hit. Kyle Ploor (3-3) pitched seven innings and took the loss.
