Sister Bay and Kolberg have started the season 2 and 0 after wins in the Door County League Sunday. Egg Harbor picked up their first win with a rally over Maplewood. West Jacksonport earned
their first win while Washington Island and Institute fall to 1 and 1. Baileys Harbor and Maplewood are winless after two weeks. Here are the details from week two in the DCL:
Sunday on 910 AM WDOR and wdor.com., Kolberg beat Baileys Harbor 13-3. The Braves broke open a one run game scoring seven times in the second inning. Jesse Miller was 4-for-5 and drove in four runs to lead Kolberg. David Omilinsky had two hits. David Van Dreese (1-0) pitched four innings of relief for the win. Chase Mickey (0-2) took the loss for Baileys Harbor. The two teams combined for eleven hits and 25 walks.
Sister Bay beat Institute, 5-3. Sister Bay took the lead in the fourth with two runs and tacked on an insurance run in the ninth. Ryan Demmin (2-0) went the distance for the win. Demmin had two hits and drove in three runs. Cody Giesseman had two hits and two RBI for Institute. Kyle Volkmann (1-1) pitched the first five innings and took the loss.
West Jacksonport doubled up Washington Island, 8-4. Austin Bauldry collected his first two hits in the DCL and Woody Schartner doubled for the Ports. Schartner, Drew Tanck and Tanner Biwer all drove in two runs as Tony Bley picked up his first win as a manager in the Door County League. Biwer (1-0) pitched the first eight innings for the victory. Ray McDonald, Matt Foss and Troy Jorgenson all had two hits. Jorgenson drove in two runs. Jorgenson (1-1) took the loss.
Egg Harbor beat Maplewood, 7-6. Matt Ash hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at six. Corey Fuller had a walk-off single in the tenth to give Egg Harbor the win. Ash (1-0) picked up the win in relief. He had four hits and drove in four runs. Both Jason and Corey Fuller, Nick Kita, Casey Giesseman, Joe Sawyer and Dave Jilot had two hits as Egg Harbor collected 18 hits on the day. Justin Alexander (0-1) took the loss in relief.
