Sister Bay and Egg Harbor will meet in the Door County Baseball League’s playoff championship game next Sunday after narrow victories Sunday afternoon.
At Egg Harbor, the Indians escaped with a 1-0 victory over Kolberg on an unearned run in the 5th inning. Dave Jilot earned the complete game victory, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 6. Riley Cordier was the tough luck loser, he also went the distance and struck out 7. Egg Harbor’s lone run was scored after a Nick Posh Single, he advanced to third on an error and would score on another error.
Top seeded Sister Bay was also able to advance with a 1-0 victory over Maplewood. Matt Hecht scored the game’s only run in the 7th inning. Hecht singled, then stole second, a 2 out single by James Larsen brought Hecht in to score what would be the winning run. Maplewood had opportunities, leaving 2 runners on in both the first and second innings, stranding 7 through the game. Ryan Demmin went the distance for the Bays for the win, Calvin Falk gave up only 4 hits, but took the loss for Maplewood.
Next Sunday will be the playoff championship as Egg Harbor and Sister Bay will meet for a 4th time this season. Egg Harbor won both regular season games, but Sister Bay won a playoff for the regular season championship. This is also a rematch of last season’s playoff title game.
