Sister Bay Alone Atop The DCL

Sister Bay beat Baileys Harbor Sunday and the Bays are now all alone atop the Door County League standings as Egg Harbor knocked off Washington Island.  West Jacksonport beat Maplewood Sunday and Kolberg won their first game of the season Friday night at Institute.  Here is the week eight recap:

Sister Bay beat Baileys Harbor, 12-5.  The Bays scored six runs in the first to take control and then led 8-0 after three innings.  Sam Forkert hit a three-run home run and Tom Sawyer added a two-run homer in the win.  Sawyer and Bubba Laughlin each had three hits and Forkert and Casey Weddig each added two.  Forkert pitched the first six innings for the win.  Austin Rohe homered for Baileys Harbor.  Rohe and Alex Janisee each had two hits.  Lucky Stephenson took the loss.

Egg Harbor beat Washington Island, 13-9.  Egg Harbor scored five times in the third to tie the game at six and then down 8-7, the Indians scored three runs in the sixth to take the lead for good.  Cody Giesseman homered twice and Nick Kita and Riley Spetz also hit home runs in the win.  Kita had three hits and drove in three runs.  Spetz picked up the win in relief.  Mitch Schreiber and Ray McDonald both hit home runs for the Islanders.  Luke Geiger had three hits in the loss, which went to Christian Foss.

West Jacksonport beat Maplewood, 12-4.  The Ports scored four runs in the third to take a 5-3 lead and they then added four runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.  Griffen Cole hit a two-run homer in the win.  Woody Schartner, Jared Lindemann and Drew Tanck all had three hits.  Tanck picked up the win in relief.  Kordell Draves hit a home run for Maplewood while Adam Gutschow, Zack Marchant and Jordan Jorgenson all had two hits.  Nick Brauer took the loss.

Kolberg beat Institute Friday night, 14-4.  The Braves scored six runs in the second and led 8-1 after three innings.  Derik LeCaptain and Isaac Berkley each had two hits in the win, which went to Ernie Erickson.  Matt Petersilka had four hits for Institute, who committed five errors.  Josh Paul started and took the loss.
