The Algoma girls basketball team rallied from a 14 point second half deficit to beat Kewaunee 49-46 in an early season showdown in Algoma on Thursday Night. The late rally included Algoma outscoring Kewaunee 24-9 in the final 8 minutes and the Storm missing all 6 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter. The Wolves tied the game when Meg Ryan hit a jumper with about :10 seconds left. Following a Kewaunee turnover, Algoma had 2.8 seconds left to play and that proved plenty as Taylor Schmidt inbounded the ball to Kennedy Blahnik who passed to Schmidt for the game winning three pointer as time expired. Blahnik finished with 17 points while Schmidt added 14 for the Wolves (4-0). Kewaunee (3-1) was led by Jill Kleiman with 22 points and Kelsey Stangel added 11 points.
