The Door County YMCA Swim team competed at the YMCA State Swimming Championships at the the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Milwaukee this past weekend. Coach Mike HcHugh says that it was a great weekend for the team…[audio:http://wdor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/mike1.mp3|titles=Mike McHugh- Great weekend]Individually, state records were set by Max McHugh in all four of his events- 100 Breaststroke in 1:01.97, 50 Breaststroke in :27.38, 50 Freestyle in :22.80 and 100 Indiviual Medley in :56.70 seconds. Connor McHugh also set a state record in the 100 Breaststroke in :55.09 seconds, which was faster than his first place time at Nationals last year and added titles in the 200IM, 100 Fly and 200 Breaststroke. Savanna Townsend won the 200 Fly State Title in a new team record time of 2:07 while Eric John Peterson won the 200 Freestyle, Drew Rass in the 50 Breaststroke, Isaak Aune in the 25 Breaststroke and Arica Smith in the 50 Freestyle. Coach McHugh said it was a great weekend for the relay teams too…[audio:http://wdor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/mike2.mp3|titles=Mike McHugh- Relay teams did great]The 15 and over girls teams won one relay and finished second in two others and qualified all three for the National Meet- team members include Savanna Townsend, Maddie Rastall, Arica Smith, Chloe Peterson and Abby Bubnik. The 15 and over boys team that finished second and qualified for Nationals in the 200 Free are Jake Cummings, Eric John Peterson, Kyle Hubbard and Connor McHugh.
