Three of the four Door County League games Sunday were shortened due to the weather. Kolberg beat Institute in the only game that went all nine innings. West Jacksonport and Sister Bay picked up six inning wins and Washington Island won in a game that was limited to five innings. Here are the details:
Kolberg scored four times in the second inning as they beat Institute, 8-3. Ryan Jacobson had three hits while Rob Ray, Anthony Moore and Mitchel Neubauer all added two. Ernie Erickson (1-0) pitched into the eighth inning and picked up his first win in the Door County League. Institute scored once in the sixth and twice in the eighth. Quinn Schram and Josh Paul had two hits. Paul (0-3) relieved Kyle Volkmann after the first inning and took the loss.
West Jacksonport beat Maplewood, 9-0. Winning pitcher Riley Cordier (4-0) did not allow a hit in six innings as the game was shortened due to rain. Griffen Cole had three hits and Jason Lindemann and Alec Schartner each added two as the Ports sent 12 men to the plate in the third inning, when they scored six runs. Kyle Ploor (2-4) took the loss for the Mets.
Washington Island put up nine runs in the first inning as they beat Egg Harbor, 10-5 in five innings. Caleb Cornell and Ben Johnson each had two hits in the first inning and Alex Johnson finished with three hits. Matt Foss (5-1) picked up the win. Eric DeJardine and Matt Ash hit back-to-back homers in the third inning for Egg Harbor. DeJardine and Dave Jilot each had two hits. Nick Kita (2-1) took the loss as he did not get out of the first inning.
Sister Bay beat Baileys Harbor, 6-0 in six innings. Winning pitcher Sam Forkert (5-1) held Baileys Harbor to two hits. Forkert had a double and drove in two runs, while Bubba Laughlin had two hits and Stuart Larsen belted a two-run homer. Amadee Savard and Aaron Larsen had the only hits for Baileys Harbor. Lucas Stephenson took the loss.
