Pratt, Anschutz, Guilette win National Titles

The Door County YMCA Strivers Gymnastic Team took 20 national qualifying gymnasts to the 2019 YMCA Gymnastics Nationals in Wisconsin Dells. Level 2 gymnast Lauren Pratt returned to nationals and defended her 2018 title earning her back to back championships. Level 2 teammate, Amira Anschutz captured her first title on the floor exercise while Excel Gold gymnast, Desirae Guilette captured a balance beam title. Level 8 gymnast Miya Eliyha competed in the preliminaries and earned a spot in the top 25 to compete in the Championships for Level 8. Miya bumped up into the top 15, earning her a Level 8 All Around medal.

Competing their way to the top ten in their level and age bracket were:

Level 8 – Miya Eliyha 15^th all around, 3^rd beam, 10^th on floor/bars.

Level 6 – Mikaila McCambridge 2^nd on bars/beam/all around, 7^th vault, 6^th floor

Excel Gold – Desirae Guilette 1^st beam, 9^th all around – Stevie Routhieaux 2^nd beam, 5^th all around – Abby DeClark 6^th on bars/beam – Abi Tooley 2^nd bars, 4^th beam, 6^th all around 9^th vault – Eliana Kerscher 9^th all around, 10^th on floor/bars.

Excel Silver – Jozlynn Burlo 2^nd on vault/bars, 5^th on beam and all around – Anna Gallardo-Ibarra 4^th on bars/beam/floor and all around, 9^th vault – Shylee Asher 6^th on bars/beam, 8^th on vault/all around and 9^th floor.

Level 4 – Daylia Sund 3^rd on bars/vault, 4^th all around and 9^th beam – Sophia Sternard 4^th vault, 5^th floor.

Level 2 – Lauren Pratt 1^st bars, 2^nd all around, 3^rd beam, 7^th floor, 9 vault – Amira Anschutz 1^st floor, 2^nd all around/beam/bars, 8^th vault – Alexa Jimenez-Seyfer 4^th vault, 7^th floor, 8^th all around, 9^th beam – Laylia Stai 7^th beam, 9^th vault – Madison Voight 3^rd bars, 7^th all around, 8^th floor, 9^th beam.

The competition hosts 2,000 gymnasts from 93 YMCA’s across the United States competing in 10 levels of competition. Levels 1-10 are divided into Child, Junior and Senior divisions. Each division awards medals to the top 30 percent in an age bracket. Gymnasts throughout their competitive season (Nov-Apr) qualify for State and Nationals by scoring a certain All Around average within their competitive level.
