West Jacksonport moved into sole possession of second place in the Door County League with wins over Institute and Egg Harbor this past weekend. Sister Bay finished the regular season perfect with a win over Kolberg and Maplewood beat Washington Island. Here are the details:
Saturday:
West Jacksonport beat Institute, 9-5. The Ports scored six times in the second to take a 7-5 lead. Woody Schartner and Zach Defere both had two hits. Schartner (3-0) picked up the win in relief. Kyle Volkmann had three hits while Matt Petersilka reached base five times on four walks and a hit. Volkmann (4-9) pitched the first four and took the loss.
Sunday:
West Jacksonport beat Egg Harbor, 3-2. The Ports scored the winning run in the eighth as Woody Schartner scored on a Cody Leist single. Leist and Drew Tanck had two hits. Tanck (1-2) earned the win in relief of Tanner Biwer. Jake Junion had two of Egg Harbor’s four hits. Dave Jilot (5-4) took the complete game loss.
Sister Bay beat Kolberg, 12-0. James Larsen had three hits while Sam Forkert and Stuart Larsen each added two. Forkert and Matt Hecht both hit home runs. Ryan Demmin (13-0) went the distance for the win as Sister Bay finishes the regular season undefeated. Riley Cordier (3-4) pitched the first six innings and took the loss.
Maplewood beat Washington Island, 8-5. With the game tied at four, the Mets took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth. Mickey Le and Kyle Ploor both had three hits and Al Karas and Chad LaLuzerne each added two. Ploor (4-3) tossed a complete game for the win. Ray McDonald had three hits for the Islanders. Matt Foss (4-5) pitched the first five innings and took the loss.
