West Jacksonport moved back into first place in the Door County League Sunday. The Ports won at Baileys Harbor while Sister Bay lost at Egg Harbor. Also Sunday, Maplewood won a pitcher’s duel at Institute and Washington Island picked up a home win over Kolberg. Here are Sunday’s results:
Maplewood won at Institute, 1-0. The Mets scored the games lone run on a sacrifice fly in the 14th inning. Tory Jandrin (1-0) picked up the win in relief of Nick Brauer, who pitched the first seven innings. Alan Karas had two of Maplewood’s seven hits. Simon Rabas and Josh Paul each had two hits for the Cubs. Kyle Volkmann (0-5) took the loss in relief.
West Jacksonport won at Baileys Harbor, 8-2. David Van Dreese had three hits including a home run to lead the Ports. Griffin Cole added two hits in the win. Drew Tanck (3-1) pitched the first seven innings for the victory. Derek Niedwziecki and Lucas Stephenson each had two hits for Baileys Harbor. Stephenson pitched five innings and took the loss.
Egg Harbor rallied past Sister Bay, 6-5. Egg Harbor scored five runs in the seventh for the win. Nick Kita and Riley Spetz each had two hits and Eric DeJardine had a bases loaded double. Spetz (1-0) picked up the win in relief. James Larsen and Bubba Laughlin each with two hits for Sister Bay. Sam Forkert (4-1) took the loss.
Washington Island beat Kolberg, 11-4. Tied at three, the Islanders scored a run in the fourth to take the lead for good. Caleb Cornell and Craig Gunnlaugsson each with two hits in the win and Ben Johnson drove in three runs. Matt Foss (4-1) pitched the first six innings for the win. Anthony Moore and Michael Larsen each had two hits for Kolberg. Ernie Erickson (0-1) pitched the first six innings and took the loss.
