The Sevastopol softball team won their first game of the season, 16-3, over Gibraltar in Fish Creek on Thursday. The Vikings took a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Helen Hecht scored after a leadoff double and Emma Alberts added an RBI single. But the Pioneers tied the game in the top of the 4th inning as Lexi LeClair and Sophia Pollman had 2 out base hits. LeClair and Pollman had RBI singles in a 5 run fifth inning before an Ashley Kinnard-Carstens bases clearing double. Sevastopol then pulled away with a 9 run 6th inning as Kinnard-Carstens had another bases clearing double and Mandy Plaszkewicz doubled. Adeline Nelson pitched a three hitter for Sevastopol and added 4 hits while LeClair and Pollman had 3 each and Kinnard-Carstens had RBI’s. Danyelle Johnson hit a solo home run for Gibraltar.
