Sunday’s lone upset in the Door County League featured Maplewood beating West Jacksonport. The three teams at the top of the standings (Egg Harbor, Kolberg and Sister Bay) all picked up wins. Here are the details:
Maplewood beat West Jacksonport, 3-0. Calvin Falk (1-1) tossed a four-hit, shutout for the win. Kyle Ploor had two hits and drove in two runs for Maplewood (4-6). The Mets scored all three of their runs in the sixth inning. Drew Tanck (5-3) pitched into the seventh and took the loss for West Jacksonport (6-4).
On AM 910 WDOR and wdor.com, Kolberg beat Institute, 7-1. Kolberg (7-2) scored twice in the first on a Bob Tenor double. David Van Dreese and Trevor Hawkey each had three hits in the win. Eric Lardinois and Tenor added two. Riley Cordier (4-2) went the first seven for the win. Van Dreese finished for his second save. John Heimbecher had two hits for Institute (2-6). Josh Paul (1-1) pitched seven innings and took the loss.
Egg Harbor beat Washington Island, 10-0. Riley Spetz had four hits to lead Egg Harbor (9-1). Nick Kita and Matt Ash added three hits and Cody Giessemann, Joe Sawyer and Dave Jilot all had two. Jilot (3-1) went the first seven innings for the win. Wil Henriksen (1-4) took the loss for Washington Island (2-7).
Sister Bay beat Baileys Harbor, 8-2. Down 1-0, Sister Bay (7-2) scored three times in the bottom of the first to take a lead they would not relinquish. Stuart Larsen, Tucker Emerson, Chase Lindem and Sam Forkert all had two hits. Forkert (4-1) pitched six innings for the win. Lucas Stephenson, Kyle Keehan and Ben Snell all had two hits for Baileys Harbor (0-9). Stephenson (0-2) took the loss.
