The 35 annual Kewaunee / Door County salmon tournament has a new leader as of this morning as the first 30 pound fish of the tournament has hit the scales in Baileys Harbor. 13 year old Carter Bieri, of Sturgeon Bay, registered a 30.30 pound, 39-inch chinook salmon and is currently in first place of the tournament, here’s tournament organizer Kevin Naze…..
Bieri’s catch pushed the previous leader, Phil Romdenne (27.84 pounds) to second place. And while many expect to see more big fish hit the scales this year, Naze says that recent reports have it being a tough bite….
The tournament continues through Sunday, July 30th.
