Mullen Wins KD Salmon Tourney

Brigitte Mullen of Hayward is the winner of the 36th annual Kewaunee/Door County Salmon Tournament.  Her winning fish, caught in the Rowley’s Bay area, was caught on Tuesday of the tournament and tipped the scales at 30.67 pounds.  She said the winning fish was caught in about 130 feet of water with a flasher/fly combo on a dipsy diver.  Mullen picks up the story from there….

Mullen wins $10,000 in cash plus other prizes for first place.  Riley Mancl of Wisconsin Rapids (30.27) finished in second place and won $5,000 while Kerrie Steinbrecher of Niagara (30.05) won $3,000 in cash for third place.  There were 51 chinook salmon registered that weighed more than 25 pounds and the tournament paid down to 154th place, or to 22.08 pounds.  The 37th annual K/D Salmon Tournament is scheduled for July 20-28, 2019.  Other details and more pictures can be found on the KD salmon tournament facebook page.
