McCarty Named Head Coach at SNC

Dan McCarty, who just finished his first season as defensive coordinator at Saint Norbert College in De Pere has been announced as the new head football coach at SNC after the resignation of Steve Opgenorth Thursday. Opgenorth went 6-4 this season, his first season as head coach of the Green Knights.

McCarty was head coach for Southern Door High School in 2013, served as an assistant at Sturgeon Bay High School, from 2003 to 2006 and in 2011. At the college level, McCarty was an assistant with UW-Stout from 2007 to 2010 where he coached offensive and defensive line and was defensive coordinator in 2010, he coached tight ends at UW-Eau Claire in 1998 and wide receivers and tight ends at the University of Minnesota-Duluth from 1999 to 2001. McCarty served as head coach of the Eidsvoll 1814s in Norway in the summer of 2001.

The promotion of Dan McCarty to head coach was announced by SNC Athletic Director Tim Bald and is effective immediately.
