Late Rally Sends Clippers Past Pioneers

Sturgeon Bay scored 2 runs in both the 6th and 7th innings to rally past Sevastopol for a 5-4 Packerland Conference win at Memorial Field on Tuesday.  The Pioneers took a 4-1 lead with two runs in the top of the 6th but the Clippers answered back in the bottom of the inning.  Jaeger Brusky doubled to open the inning and August Taylor walked and both would score on wild pitches to make it 4-3.  Jeffery Alberts led off the 7th with a walk and Matt VanBramer singled and stole second base setting up second and third with no outs.  After back-to-back strikeouts, Taylor lifted a ball to left field that was dropped and both runs scored allowing the Clippers to win.  Brandon Krause pitched the first 6 innings with freshman Jared VanBramer pitching a scoreless 7th for the win.  Alberts, Brusky and Krause all had 2 hits for Sturgeon Bay.  Will Hartmann and Jared Pfleiger had RBI’s for the Pioneers while Quin Schram struck out 10.
