The Kewaunee girl’s basketball team won their Packerland Conference opener as they beat Sturgeon Bay Friday night, 55-17. Up 16 after the opening quarter, the Storm held the Clippers to just two free throws in the second and led 43-6 at halftime. Brooke Geier scored 23 points to lead Kewaunee (1-0 Packerland / 1-1 overall) while Ellie Olsen added 14 and Angela Kudick chipped in 12. Sturgeon Bay (0-1 / 0-1), who made just one field goal in the second and third quarters combined, were led by Hannah Abrahamson’s five points.
Kewaunee will be back in action Tuesday night when they host Southern Door on 93.9 FM WDOR and wdor.com. Next up for Sturgeon Bay is a trip to Algoma Tuesday night.
