Kewaunee lost to Amherst in a Division 3 sectional semifinal Tuesday at Crivitz, 5-1. The Falcons used two walks, two errors and a two-run single by T.J. Brandl to grab a 4-0 lead after the top of the first. That turned out to be plenty for U.W.-Milwaukee commit, Ben Lee. Amherst’s hard throwing right hander allowed a run on five hits and had eight strikeouts for the win. After allowing the two-run single, Kewaunee starter Cal Ihlenfeldt settled in and retired 14 of the next 15 hitters before giving up a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Caleb Schaller tripled to lead off the bottom of the fifth and he scored on a wild pitch. Ihlenfeldt, Payton Kohnle, Sawyer Pribek and Thomas Stangel all had singles for Kewaunee, who out hit Amherst, five to four.
