Kewaunee County Claims East Division Title

The Kewaunee County American Legion baseball team won the Fox River Valley League’s East Division Championship Tuesday night as they beat Sturgeon Bay, 5-1.  After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Lakers took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second.  Kewaunee County added a pair of runs in the third and one more in the sixth.  Caleb Willems went all seven for the win.  Lucas Tlachac was 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and a run scored.  Riley Cordier took the loss for Sturgeon Bay.  Riley Schartner had a pair of doubles and the Bays scored their lone run on a David Van Dreese sacrifice fly.

The Northern Door legion team slipped by Peshtigo Tuesday night, 7-6.  Nick Kita scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh to give the Chiefs the win.  Cody Giesseman and Wil Gonzalez each had two hits for Northern Door.  Giesseman and Tanner Biwer both doubled and drove in two runs.  Alan Karas picked up the win in relief of Matt Hecht.
