The Door County YMCA Strivers Gymnastics Team earned Gold this weekend in Menominee, Michigan. The gymnasts competed in the “Pink” Invitational hosted by the Marinette Menominee YMCA. Along with Door County, competing teams included the Green Bay YMCA, Heart of the Valley YMCA and the Manitowoc YMCA.
The Excel Gold gymnasts captured Gold, placing first as a team with a score of 106.85. The Gold Team takes the top three scores on each event to determine the Team total. Individual gymnasts for Excel Gold are Alexa Seyfer-Jimenes, who earned gold on the floor with a 9.4, gold on beam scoring 9.5, and gold in the All-Around with a 36.20. Alexa also grabbed a bronze medal on vault. Shylee Asher grabbed gold on vault with an 8.7, bronze on beam and bronze in the All-Around. Amelia Zoschke, captured gold on bars with an 8.9, silver in the All-Around, and bronze on beam.
Level Six gymnasts were fourth-place as a team. Placing for the group were Amira Anschutz, who won gold on the vault with a 9.0 and silver on beam. Julia Gregory captured silver on beam, vault, and bars along with a silver in the All-Around scoring. Estelle Duerst earned bronze on floor, beam and bars and Lauren Pratt grabbed a fourth place on floor and vault.
The Excel Silver Group placed second as a Team. Keira Wesley who won gold on the floor (9.3) and silver on vault. Evelynn Kelsey grabbed gold on the floor in the 13 and under group with a 9.3 while Shaylyn Asher earned silver on the floor and vault.
The Striver Gymnastic Team has its next competition on February 19th at the Sheboygan YMCA and the State Tournament will follow in March, also in Sheboygan.
