The Sturgeon Bay and Algoma high school football teams open the playoffs on the road…and both against defending State Champions.
The Clippers (5-3) open WIAA Division 4 play at Wrightstown at 7:00. Sturgeon Bay features a balanced offensive attack–one of only two teams that rushed and passed for over a 1,000 yards in league play. The Tigers (7-1) were part of a three way tie for the Olympian/Packerland Large Conference Championship and feature a physical running game led by Riley Schussler- who led the league in rushing. Despite playing in the same conference, these two teams did not meet in the regular season.
The Wolves (3-5) open WIAA Division 6 play at Saint Mary’s Springs in Fond du Lac at 7:00. Algoma qualified for the playoffs for the second straight year by beating Saint Mary Central last week. The Ledgers have outscored their opponents 412-39.
