Five Area Runners Qaulify for State Cross Country Meet

The WIAA Cross  Country Sectionals were on Saturday and a total of 5 area runners have qualified for the State Meet in Wisconsin Rapids.  Algoma’s Kaitlyn Wahlers and Whitney Ebert finished 6th and 7th at the Sheboygan Lutheran Sectional and helped the Wolves team to a third place finish and have qualified to run in the Division 3 girls race this Saturday.  Southern Door’s Gracie Englebert and Luxemburg-Casco’s Jacie Legois qualified for the State Meet by finishing 7th and 8th at the Kiel Sectional.  Algoma’s Jacob Wahlers is the only area boys runner to qualify for State.  Gibraltar’s Mark Knutson and Caleb House, Kayden Robertson of Algoma, Brianne Barta of Kewaunee and L-C’s Faith Vania all had top 10 finishes on Saturday but failed to qualify.  The WIAA State Cross Country Meet is Saturday at Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.

Luxemburg-Casco beat Denmark 25-21, 23-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-9 to win a Division 2 regional championship on Saturday Night.  The Spartans will play Notre Dame at Oconto Falls on Thursday.

Manitowoc Lutheran eliminated Algoma from the tournament 26-24, 25-13, 20-25, 25-14.  The Lancers will play Howards Grove at New Holstein on Thursday.
