Brian Finnel won his second Door County Half Marathon Saturday, May 2, finishing in 1:11:26 to best the field by almost two minutes. The Madison teacher and Door County native also won the race in 2012.
On the women’s side, Hannah Knurr of Madison set a new women’s course record with a time of 1:24:20, beating the previous record by more than a minute.
More than 2,500 runners signed up to run in the half marathon or the Nicolet Bay 5k, both held in Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek, WI.
Dustin Hudak won the Nicolet Bay 5k with a time of 17:20, beating former winner Brian Busse by just 17 seconds. Liz Gilbert paced the women with a time of 19:05, just 7 seconds off the course record for women.
The event’s 40 Run For A Cause participants raised more than $20,000 for charity this year, bringing the 6-year program total to nearly $92,000.
