Amherst beat Southern Door, 50-39, in a WIAA girls Division 3 sectional final basketball game at Kaukauna on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons (25-1) jumped out to an early 15-2 lead before the Eagles (21-5) closed the gap to 15-11. Amherst used a blend of strong guard play and efficient post play to build a 29-19 lead at the half and Southern Door never seriously threatened in the second half. Kendra Dantoin finished with a team high 16 points to lead the Eagles while seniors Gabby Atkins and Meghan LaCrosse combined for 14 points.
