Egg Harbor beat Sister Bay Sunday and in the process the Indians force a one game playoff for the Door County League’s regular season championship. Washington Island, West Jacksonport and Institute also won on the last day of the regular season. Here is the week 14 recap:
Egg Harbor beat Sister Bay, 8-2. The Indians scored twice in the first, added a pair of runs in the fourth and then Cody Giesseman hit a grand slam in the sixth. Giesseman, Anthony Moore, Nick Kita and Nick Posh all had two hits. Al Byrne pitched seven innings for the win. Stuart Larsen had three hits for Sister Bay and Tucker Emerson added two. Sam Forkert took the loss.
Washington Island beat Kolberg, 7-4. The Islander snapped a 1-1 tie with four runs in the bottom of the third. Ben Geiger had four hits and drove in three runs. Luke Geiger added three hits and Ray MacDonald added two. Troy Jorgenson picked up the win in relief. Trevor Reinhardt hit a three-run homer for Kolberg while Max Bordeau and Hunter Pawelski each had two hits. Reinhardt took the loss.
West Jackonport beat Baileys Harbor, 12-2. The Ports scored four times in the first. Alec Schartner had four hits while Woody Schartner added three and Drew Tanck and Griffen Cole each had two. Cole had a pair of doubles. Tanck pitched the first six innings for the win. Lucky Stephenson had two hits for Baileys Harbor and Daniel Case took the loss.
Institute beat Maplewood, 11-4. The Cubs scored four runs in the first and added two in the fourth for the season-ending win. Quinn Schram, Matt Petersilka, John Baudhuin and Josh Paul all had two hits in the win, which went to Paul. He pitched all nine innings. Losing pitcher Nick Brauer had three hits. Adam Gutschow, Zach Marchant and Bo Schartner all added two.
