Sister Bay beat West Jacksonport Sunday to stay perfect in the Door County League. The Islanders beat Institute on Washington Island. Maplewood surprised Kolberg. Friday night Egg Harbor blanked Baileys Harbor. Here’s this weekend’s DCL recaps:
Sister Bay beat West Jacksonport, 4-2. Sister Bay scored twice in the top of the first and never trailed. Tom Sawyer, Sam Forkert, Tucker Emerson and Ryan Demmin all had two hits. Demmin (6-0) went the distance striking out 10. Woody Schartner had two doubles and a single and Jason Lindemann homered and singled for West Jacksonport. Tanner Biwer (3-2) pitched into the eighth and took the loss.
Maplewood beat Kolberg, 8-5. Maplewood scored three times in the first and then pulled away late. Craig Kirchman (2 RBI) , Mickey Le, John Price (3 RBI) and Kyle Ploor all had two hits for Maplewood. Kichman doubled and tripled in the win. Calvin Falk (2-1) had nine strikeouts in the complete game win. Riley Cordier (0-1) pitched the first six innings and took the loss.
Washington Island beat Institute, 9-2. Craig Gunnlaugsson homered twice and drove in four runs as Washington Island scored all their runs over the first five innings. Christian Foss had three hits in the win while Gunnlaugsson and Con McDonald each added two. Matt Foss (1-2) pitched the first seven innings for the win. Matt Petersilka had two of Institute’s five hits. Kyle Volkmann (3-4) lasted three innings and took the loss.
Nick Kita’s bases loaded double was the big hit in a three-run third inning as Egg Harbor beat Baileys Harbor Friday night in the Door County League, 4-0. Kita led Egg Harbor with three hits and he also tossed two innings of relief. Winning pitcher Dave Jilot (3-1) had nine strikeouts in seven innings. Sam Koss (0-1) took the loss for Baileys Harbor. Koss allowed three runs in four innings.
