Eagles, Wolves Win Softball Regional Titles / Soccer Tourney Underway

Southern Door won their first regional championship since 2008 after a 3-1 win over Luxemburg-Casco on Thursday.  The Eagles (20-2) took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Acacia Tupa singled home Katie Miller.  McKayla Dantoin struck out 8 in the win while Amy Englebert scored 2 runs.  Emily Berceau had 2 hits for the Spartans (10-12).  Southern Door will play a WIAA Division 2 Sectional Semi-Final vs West De Pere (17-9) at Shawano at 4:00 Monday.

Division 3

Algoma won their third straight regional title with a 5-1 win over Mishicot at Pederson Park.  Courtney Dart fired a 3-hitter with 12 strikeouts and added three hits to fuel the Wolves (21-4) attack.  Kaylee Pieschek singled and scored in the third inning as Algoma took the the lead for good.  The Wolves will host Winnebago Lutheran (12-14) at 4:30 on Monday.

Sevastopol 2

Soccer

Sturgeon Bay opened the WIAA Division 3 soccer tournament with a 2-1 at Kewaunee.  The Clippers will play at top seeded Saint Mary Central at 6:00 on Saturday.  Sevastopol-Gibraltar lost 10-0 to Assumption in Wisconsin Rapids.  Luxemburg-Casco beat Freedom 3-2 and will play Sheboygan Falls at 3:00 on Saturday.
