Eagles Stay in Title Chase

The Southern Door baseball team beat Gibraltar 4-2 on Monday and stayed a game behind league leading Kewaunee in the Packerland Conference baseball race.  Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th inning, Mitchell Gerend hit a 2-out, 2-run single that gave the Eagles the lead.  Southern Door would add to their lead with RBI singles from Mike Larsen and Mitchel Neubauer to take a 4-1 after five innings.  The Vikings cut the deficit to 4-2 in the 6th on a Connor Brennan RBI double and had the tying runs on base in the top of the 7th inning before Neubauer finished the game with a strikeout and groundout.  Larsen had 3 hits for the Eagles while Beau Schartner singled twice for Southern Door and Neubauer went the distance for the win.  Jack Brennan had 3 hits and scored both runs for the Vikings and Alex Johnson added a pair of hits.
