Eagles Rally Again

The Southern Door girls rallied from a 10 point halftime deficit to beat Valders, 43-32, in a WIAA Division 3 sectional semi-final at Manitowoc Lincoln on Thursday Night.  The Eagles (21-4) saw the Vikings start and finish the half with identical 9-0 scoring streaks for a 22-12 advantage at the break.  But Southern Door found some momentum early in the second half as they were able to work the ball inside to Meghan LaCrosse and score on their first three possessions of the half.  The Eagles eventually tied the game at 29-29 with 8:25 to play on a pair of free throws by Grace LeGrave and took their first on a Tehya Bertrand three pointer with 6:14 remaining.  The Vikings (21-4) would tie the game moments later on an Emma Wagner three pointer only to see the Eagles take the lead for good on a LaCrosse basket in the post with 3:54 left on the clock.  Bertrand led the Eagles with a 16 points while LaCrosse added 10 and Gabby Atkins finished with 8.  Southern Door held Valders scoreless for the final 6 minutes of the game.  Amherst (24-1) beat top ranked Wrightstown, 74-56, setting up a sectional final with Southern Door at 1:00 on Saturday afternoon in Kaukauna.  Our coverage begins with the Jorns Chevrolet of Kewaunee pregame show on 93.9FM / wdor.com
