Eagles Knock Off Ninth Ranked Storm

Southern Door beat Kewaunee, 62-54, in a girls Packerland Conference game in Kewaunee on Friday Night.  After a back and forth first half that included 11 lead changes, the Eagles (7-2, 12-3) opened the second half on a 12-2 run for a 40-26 lead.  But the Storm closed to within 53-51 after hitting five second half three pointers but Megan Pavlik and Gabby Atkins combined to make five consecutive free throws down the stretch to preserve the win for Southern Door.  Pavlik led the Eagles with a game high 19 points, Atkins added 13 and Meghan La Crosse scored all 10 of her points in the second half.  Angie Kudick led the Storm (8-2, 13-4) with 18 points, while Abby Bumgartner (13), Brooke Geier (12) and Ellie Olson (11) were all in double figures for Kewaunee.  It was the 9th straight win for Southern Door and the Eagles will host #1 ranked Algoma on Tuesday on WDOR.
