Eagles Get First Playoff Win in 14 Years

Southern Door beat Valders 31-13 in a WIAA Division 4 playoff opener in Brussels on Friday Night.  It’s the first playoff win for the Eagles since 2000 when they beat Little Wolf 27-14.  The Eagles (8-2) scored on their opening possession as Mitchel Neubauer threw a 19 yard touchdown pass to Trevor Hawkey on 4th and 11.  Trenton Michaletz and Derek Jess had td runs in the 2nd quarter as the Eagles took a 21-7 halftime lead. Neubauer added a 1 yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter and Andrew Montana booted a 19 yard field goal in the 4th quarter for Southern Door.  Mitchell Overbeck recovered a fumble and blocked a punt for the Eagles while Paxton Korslin scored both td’s for the Vikings (5-5).  Southern Door will play at Freedom in Level 2.  The Irish (9-1) beat Kiel 35-7.
