The Southern Door baseball team beat Gibraltar/Washington Island in the first game of a doubleheader, 8-1, on Tuesday. Jaden Diller struck out 10 in 5.1 innings of work for the win with Will Jandrin recording the final five outs. The Eagles scored runs in each of the first four innings and were led by Christian Counard (3 hits/2 RBI) Jack Peterson (2 hits/double) Jaden Diller (2 hits/2-run triple) and Tyler Neinas (3 runs scored. Nathan Merkel drove in Will Friedenfels with an infield single for the Vikings only run.
Game 2 was suspended by darkness with SD in front 7-4. Derek Schinktgen had two hits, Couanrd homered while Peterson and Neinas had two hits. Neinas struck out 11 for the Eagles.
