The pitching of Ryan Demmin helped Sister Bay beat Baileys Harbor and clinch at least a share of the Door County League regular season title Sunday. Washington Island kept their playoff hopes alive as they handed Egg Harbor their second consecutive loss. Maplewood upset West Jacksonport and Kolberg moved into a three-way tie for second with a win over Institute. Here are the details:
Sister Bay beat Baileys Harbor, 12-0. Ryan Demmin (9-0) tossed a perfect game with 15 strike outs. Its the first no-hitter in the Door County League since Jeff Sperber tossed one back in 2004. Stuart Larsen had two hits, including a three-run home run. Tom Sawyer, Sam Forkert and Tucker Emerson all had two hits in the win. Amadee Savard (0-6) pitched the first six innings and took the loss.
On AM 910 WDOR and wdor.com, Washington Island beat Egg Harbor, 4-3. Troy Jorgenson had three hits to lead the Islanders. Two of those hits were doubles. Matt Foss (3-4) picked up the win in relief. Jason Fuller had two hits for Egg Harbor and Casey Giessemann hit a home run. Nick Kita (0-1) took the loss.
Kolberg beat Institute, 10-3. The Braves scored four times in the first and never trailed. David Van Dreese, Austin Rohe, Alex Bailey and Trevor Hawekey all had two hits. Van Dreese homered for Kolberg. Riley Cordier (2-2) went the first seven for the win. Kirk Schleicher had two hits to lead Institute. Kyle Volkmann (4-7) took the loss.
Maplewood beat West Jacksonport, 5-1. Craig Kirchman had two hits and scored four of the Mets five runs. Chad LaLazurne and John Price also had two hits. Kyle Ploor (2-1) went the distance for the win. Woody Schartner had two hits including a home run for West Jacksonport. Drew Tanck (0-2) pitched into the sixth and took the loss.
