This season’s top pitcher in the Door County League helped Sister Bay beat Egg Harbor and take a three game lead in the standings with five to play. Kolberg moved a game in front of Washington Island. Institute beat Maplewood. West Jacksonport moved into a tie for second and sent Baileys Harbor to their twelfth straight loss. On AM 910 WDOR and wdor.com, Sister Bay beat Egg Harbor, 9-0. Ryan Demmin (8-0) tossed a three-hit shutout to keep Sister Bay perfect. Sister Bay scored a run in the first and then added one in the sixth, three in the eighth and two in the ninth. Tucker Emerson had four hits, Tom Sawyer added three hits, Matt Hecht had a double and a triple and Sam Forkert hit his second home run. Jason Fuller had two infield hits for Egg Harbor. Dave Jilot (4-2) pitched into the eighth and took the loss.
Kolberg beat Washington Island, 7-6. With the game tied at two, Kolberg scored a run in the third and built a 7-2 lead heading to the bottom of the ninth. The Islanders scored four times in their last at bat and had the tying run on base when the game ended. Greg Klaubauf had three hits and drove in three runs for Kolberg. Winning pitcher David Van Dreese (2-0) had eight strike outs in seven innings. Christian Foss, Caleb Cornell and Ray McDonald each had two hits and Matt Foss tripled. Matt Foss (2-4) pitched the first six innings and took the loss.
West Jacksonport beat Baileys Harbor, 8-3. The Ports took a 2-0 lead in the fourth and were up 8-0 heading to the bottom of the ninth. Griffin Cole and Woody Schartner both had three hits and Tanner Biwer added two. Schartner (1-0) pitched into the ninth for the win. Baileys Harbor scored all three of their runs in the ninth, when they collected four of their five hits. Sawyer Johnson and Sam Koss both doubled for Baileys Harbor. Amadee Savard (0-5) pitched into the seventh and took the loss.
Institute beat Maplewood, 9-3. The Cubs erased a 1-0 deficit by scoring four times in the fourth. Institute pounded out 19 hits with Cody Giessemann going 5-for-5 and John Heimbecher 4-for-4. Josh Paul added three hits while Hunter Kallin, Kyle Volkmann and Matt Petersilka all had two. Volkmann (4-5) went the first six innings for the win. Maplewood had 14 hits. Craig Kirchman and Kyle Ploor each had three hits while Mickey Le, Chad LaLuzerne and Jake LeBotte all had two. Ploor (1-1) went six innings and took the loss.
