Cordier Headed To The Show

After nine minor league seasons and two major injuries, Southern Door alumni Erik Cordier is headed to the big leagues for the first time.  As Major League Baseball rosters expand for the final month of the season, Cordier has been added to the San Francisco Giants bullpen.  Cordier was 4-3 with three saves and an ERA of 3.59 in 47 relief appearances for the Giants Triple A affiliate in Fresno this summer.

After an outstanding high school career, the Kansas City Royals used a second round draft pick in 2004 to select Cordier.  He spent nine seasons in the minors with the Royals, Braves, and Pirates organizations before signing with the Giants this past off-season.  Cordier also underwent Tommy John surgery and had a significant knee injury, costing the right handed pitcher two seasons.

He has been assigned jersey number 75 according to the Giants website.
