Clippers to Play for State Title

The Sturgeon Bay soccer team beat Northland Pines, 5-1, in a WIAA Division 4 State Semi-final in Milwaukee on Thursday and will play The Prairie School for the State Championship at 11:00am on Saturday.

The Clippers fell behind after an early own goal, but Adison Benzinger tied the match on a free kick from 34 yards (29:10) and took the lead for good on a Carson Dvorak goal (36:50). DJ Lenius added a goal for Sturgeon Bay to make it 3-1 at the half and Spencer Hubbard scored a pair of second half goals for the final margin. CJ Fairchild finished with two assists while Porter Gigstead and Dvorak added an assist each. Sturgeon Bay had 18 shot on goal for the match, while holding the Eagles without a shot on goal in the second half.
