Clippers, Pioneers Advance in Softball Tourney

Sturgeon Bay rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the the bottom of the third inning and beat Kiel, 12-2, in 6 innings in a WIAA Division 3 regional opener at PBI Field on Tuesday.  The Clippers took the lead on a two out, two run triple by Sarah Bridenhagen in the third inning while Gracee Abeyta, Koko Hartzell and Alexis McCarthy all drove in runs in the inning.  Andie Rockendorf (2 RBI), Melissa Moxon, Hartzell and Bridenhagen (3 RBI) all had two hits in the game.  Morgan Nelson pitched a five hitter for Sturgeon Bay.  McKensie Hickman led Kiel with two hits while Analiese Olig and Hannah Steinke drove in runs.  The Clippers will play at Valders on Wednesday at 4:30.
