The Sturgeon Bay boys basketball team beat NEW Lutheran 54-35 on Friday Night in Green Bay, moving into a tie for first in the Packerland Conference. With the the Clippers holding a four point lead late in the third quarter, Michael Kolb’s runner in the lane made it 31-25 to close the quarter. Then Kolb and Nathan Abrahamson connected on back-to-back three pointers to push the lead to 37-25 and the Blazers never seriously threatened again. Kolb finished with 18 points and Alex Bailey added 15 for Sturgeon Bay (7-2, 10-6) while Travis Voigt finished with 8 points for NEW Lutheran (7-2, 11-3).
Algoma (7-2) also moved into a first place tie with their 62-58 win over Southern Door.
