Clippers Get First Conference Win

Sturgeon Bay used balance up and down the lineup as they picked up their first conference win of the season on Thursday, 10-3, over Algoma at Perry Field.  The Clippers scored four runs in the second inning as  Tanner DeGrave and Austin Lardinois had 2-run singles but the Wolves answered in their half of the inning as Dillon Dean had an RBI single and Zack Schmidt followed with a 2-run single.  Sturgeon Bay added to their lead in the fourth inning on a Mitchell Jackson RBI single and added two in the fifth as Anthony Moore doubled to lead off the inning and Jaeger Brusky hit an RBI double.  DeGrave finished with 2 hits for the Clippers and ten other players added base hits for Sturgeon Bay.  Jeffrey Alberts went the first four innings for the win with Jared Van Bramer (2 RBI) went three scoreless for the save.  Schmidt had two hits for the Wolves and Trevor Haasch and Max Grovogel both doubled.

Oconto won the Packerland Conference meet at Peninsula State Park Golf Course by shooting a 168 with Sturgeon Bay second (187) and Sevastopol third (188).
